Nine years after our first FM broadcast Radio Fox is returning to the airwaves to celebrate our 20th birthday. Radio Fox has been licensed by OFCOM to broadcast for twenty eight days to Leicester and surrounding areas on 107.5FM, giving listeners outside the Royal and the Glenfield the opportunity to hear our programmes.
The RSL (Restricted Service Licence) begins at 6am on Saturday May 10th when Matt Dobson takes the hotseat for the Saturday Breakfast Show, and ends with a very special programme between 7 and 9pm on Friday June 6th. In between you can enjoy the shows which are normally only heard by the patients and staff of the Royal and the Glenfield, which include request programmes, specialist shows, sports coverage and plenty of entertainment.
In addition to showcasing our own programmes Radio Fox 107.5FM will also include interviews with the staff and volunteers who work at the two hospitals we broadcast to, and there will be plenty of opportunities for you to call or email us to request your favourite song.
Station Director Steve Hack says that the RSL will be a great opportunity for listeners to hear what hospital radio really sounds like. “Although everyone at Radio Fox is a volunteer we strive to make our programmes as entertaining and professional as we can. During our first RSL in 1999 many listeners commented on our friendliness and the variety of music we played. I hope those listeners will enjoy hearing us back on FM again and that our broadcast will encourage others to get involved in hospital radio.”
Make sure your radio is set to 107.5FM on Saturday 10th May!
*Full details of our programmes during the RSL will appear on this website shortly.
