<title>Radio Fox is back on FM!</title>
<link>http://www.hospitalradiofox.co.uk/Article40.html</link>
<description>Nine years after our first FM broadcast Radio Fox is returning to the airwaves to celebrate our 20th birthday. Radio Fox has been licensed by OFCOM to broadcast for twenty eight days to Leicester and surrounding areas on 107.5FM, giving listeners outside the Royal and the Glenfield the opportunity to hear our programmes.

The RSL (Restricted Service Licence) begins at 6am on Saturday May 10th when Matt Dobson takes the hotseat for the Saturday Breakfast Show, and ends with a very special programme between 7 and 9pm on Friday June 6th. In between you can enjoy the shows which are normally only heard by the patients and staff of the Royal and the Glenfield, which include request programmes, specialist shows, sports coverage and plenty of entertainment.

In addition to showcasing our own programmes Radio Fox 107.5FM will also include interviews with the staff and volunteers who work at the two hospitals we broadcast to, and there will be plenty of opportunities for you to call or email us to request your favourite song.

Station Director Steve Hack says that the RSL will be a great opportunity for listeners to hear what hospital radio really sounds like. “Although everyone at Radio Fox is a volunteer we strive to make our programmes as entertaining and professional as we can. During our first RSL in 1999 many listeners commented on our friendliness and the variety of music we played. I hope those listeners will enjoy hearing us back on FM again and that our broadcast will encourage others to get involved in hospital radio.”

Make sure your radio is set to 107.5FM on Saturday 10th May!

*Full details of our programmes during the RSL will appear on this website shortly.

<title>Hospital Radio Fox ensure patients are all loved up.</title>
<link>http://www.hospitalradiofox.co.uk/Article34.html</link>
<description>To celebrate Valentines Day, Hospital Radio Fox chatted with a pair of relationship experts live from Austria.

Presenter Kris Bramwell interviewed Tony and Nicki Vee via telephone, as part of the special broadcast on Tuesday 12th February.

Kris said: “This was my furthest long distance interview.

“At such a romantic time of year, it was apt Tony and Nicki were speaking such a picturesque location as the Alps.”

Based at their relationship retreat in Northern Austria Mr and Mrs Vee said they were originally looking for a suitable location between Birmingham and London, but had to settle for one of the world’s most romantic locations.

They identified truth, honesty and a good understanding of your partner as the secrets to a long and happy relationship.

Patients at the Leicester Royal Infirmary and the Glenfield Hospitals were invited to make dedications to their loved ones, or even staff members they had taken a fancy to.

<title>Cliff's Twenty Year Surprise</title>
<link>http://www.hospitalradiofox.co.uk/Article31.html</link>
<description>Cliff Wheatcroft was surprised live on air on Saturday by the President of the Hospital Broadcasting Association, June Snowden, and for possibly the first time he was left speechless on air!

Cliff was presented with a twenty year long service award by June towards the end of his Brunchbox show, which was awarded by the HBA in recognition of his twenty years at Fox. In addition he was awarded Honorary Membership of Fox as a thank you for his loyalty to the station - only the fourth member to receive this accolade.

Cliff first joined Fox in December 1987, several months before the station went on air. He has hosted a request show for longer than any other presenter in the station's history and is the only presenter who has hosted a regular show continuously from 1988 to the present day.

Chairman Bill Jones and Vice Chairman Sandy Iliff joined June for the presentation and June also joined Sandy on air during her Saturday Selection show.

Congratulations to Cliff on his fantastic achievement.

<title>It's almost the season to be jolly...</title>
<link>http://www.hospitalradiofox.co.uk/Article30.html</link>
<description>Christmas may still be several weeks off but Radio Fox is already putting the final touches on this year's Christmas and New Year programmes, which promise to be the best yet.

Starting off the festive programming in style will be the return of the Big Fox Christmas Cracker on December 15th, a twelve hour request and competition spectacular. Our members will be out on the wards of the Royal and the Glenfield between 8am and 8pm, and they'll be plenty of chances to win a prize with the return of the popular Pull My Cracker challenge and regular Prize Requests draws. We'll also be providing split programmes for the Glenfield and the Royal and certain times of the day to get even more of your requests on air.

This year the Cracker features two new ingredients - The Radio Fox Bran Tub, where you can win a prize simply by calling in and asking one of our presenters to pull a prize out the tub in the studio, and we are hoping to have live lunchtime music from one of the area's top bands, who have already recorded some jingles specially for the day.

Last year's Cracker saw the station play a record number of requests in one day and attract our biggest audience for seven years.

Our popular Christmas Day edition of Patients Requests returns with Sandy Iliff and the team playing all your requests from 10am. There's also a special edition of our acclaimed Sixties Scene show, where Les Eastham will be playing you all the UK and US Christmas number ones from that decade. Les is also back with another Christmas Eve With The Beatles programme and you can also hear him on New Year's Day taking a look at the best of the Beatles solo material.

Steve Hack brings you his Christmas Turkeys - sixty minutes of the dodgiest festive songs ever recorded - and Richard Fox has two festive charts in the Retro Top Forty. You can also enjoy old favourites such as Carols From Around The Country, a visit from Santa in Radio Fox Meets and our traditional Christmas Request Chart which this year can be heard on Wednesday 19th December.

Matt and Dean take over the airwaves on Boxing Day for a review of the year's sport in All About The Game and there's also Classic Number Ones specials and seasonal Thoughts For The Day as recorded by the Leicester Royal Infirmary's Chaplaincy team.

A full schedule for Christmas and New Year will appear on the website in early December.

<title>Ross makes it a perfect ten</title>
<link>http://www.hospitalradiofox.co.uk/Article28.html</link>
<description>

Ross Wilde has become the latest member of Radio Fox to clock up ten years loyal service to the station, and in doing so received recogntion from our governing body, the Hospital Broadcasting Association.

Ross joined Fox in September 1997 and after helping out on Steven Hardisty's Thursday night request show, became the station's first ever rugby commentator, covering all of Leicester Tigers home games and some of their key away matches. Thanks to Ross we have been able to bring our listeners full match commentary on key Tigers away games in the Heinekein Cup and several Twickenham finals too.

Ross actually lives in Stourport and travels to Leicester to cover the Tigers games for us. After Richard Fox he is our longest serving current sports commentator.

Ross was presented with his long service certificate from the HBA live on air by Vice Chairman Sandy Iliff and is pictured here with Station Director and Sports Producer Steve Hack. Congratulations Ross!

*Three other members will shortly be reaching important milestones. Cliff Wheatcroft celebrates twenty years with Fox at the end of this year, Steven Hardisty clocks up fifteen years service next year and Bob Machon will shortly notch up a combined ten years loyal service, having originally been a member from 1987-1993 and from 2003 until the present day.

<title>Unscheduled Maintenance</title>
<link>http://www.hospitalradiofox.co.uk/Article25.html</link>
<description>Regrettably we had to take our website offline over the Bank Holiday weekend
to carry out some urgent maintainence work.

Unfortunately spammers managed to get onto the site and posted content that
was neither supported by or authorised by Hospital Radio Fox. As soon as we
were made aware of their work the site was taken offline so the additional
'content' could be removed.

Radio Fox would like to apologise for any disappointment caused by this.
It is sad that someone had nothing better to do than spoil the enjoyment of
our site for listeners and visitors.

On a more positive note look out in the coming weeks for new presenter
pictures and details of the exciting new shows that we are introducing in
our 6-7pm weeknight slot.

<title>Radio Fox Strikes Gold</title>
<link>http://www.hospitalradiofox.co.uk/Article23.html</link>
<description>

Radio Fox enjoyed a successful night at the Hospital Radio Awards on March
31st, when presenter Sandy Iliff was given the Gold Award in the Female
Presenter Of The Year category.

This is the first time Fox has received a Gold Award and the first time the
station has made the top three in any awards category for four years.

The Hospital Radio Awards, held this year in Northampton, is an annual event
organised by the Hospital Broadcasting Association and entered by hospital
stations across the UK. Each category is judged by industry experts
including representatives from the BBC and Independent Radio News. The
judges commented on Sandy's friendly on-air style and likened her to Radio
One's Sara Cox in how she handled her listener calls.

In other categories Fox received a Highly Commended for its sports output
for the second time in three years, and our Diwali coverage was commended in
the Special Event section.

Radio Fox has been shortlisted every year since 2000 in the Awards and
previously received bronze awards in 2000, 2001 and 2003.

<title>Why not hire our P.A Service?</title>
<link>http://www.hospitalradiofox.co.uk/Article22.html</link>
<description>Thanks to the fund raising efforts of our members Radio Fox has been able to upgrade it's outside broadcast equipment. Much of our fund raising comes through doing PA's at local fetes, gala days and other special events, so if you want a quality PA service at your event, why not give Radio Fox a try? We can provide background music, announcements, competitions and microphone facilities. We often broadcast live reports from local events back to our listeners and occasionally go even further - in 2003 we broadcast highlights shows from the Sapcote Country Music Festival and the Caribbean Carnival. Our hire rates are very competitive and all money goes towards the running costs of the station. Find out more by contacting our Finance Director Scott Mclaren on 258 5555, you can also contact us by writing or via this website.

<title>RADIO FOX HITS THE BULLSEYE</title>
<link>http://www.hospitalradiofox.co.uk/Article21.html</link>
<description>

Comedian and entertainer Jim Bowen was the special guest on the Brunchbox (3rd February) when he joined presenter Kris Bramwell on the phone for a chat.

Jim revealed that he was at a friends house enjoying a bacon sandwich and went on to talk about his career and his current work.

Kris asked him about his pre showbiz career when Jim was a deputy headmaster, and Jim shared his memories of Bullseye. He said that he jumped at the chance to present the programme, given the popularity of gameshows at the time, and said that it was &quot;an honest programme that I was incredibly fortunate to do.&quot;

Jim told Kris that he can't actually play darts himself and is flattered by how fondly remembered Bullseye is, twenty seven years after it first began.

Jim was invited to pick a record and chose Elton John's 'Nikita' which he said should have been a number one single.

Radio Fox would like to thank Jim for taking the time to be interviewed. You definitely can't beat a bit of Bully!
